Spokane AAU Championship weekend is here

Spokane AAU Championship Weekend is here

It all comes down to one weekend. Months of practice, games and tournaments have led to Spokane AAU’s Championship Weekend. Ten teams remain to compete for a shot at the title of Kings and Queens of the Court.

Join us February 16-17th at West Valley High School to support Spokane AAU teams as they compete for a championship title. The 3rd and 4th place seeds play on Saturday the 16th, and the 1st and 2nd place seeds compete on Sunday the 17th. These teams have put in countless hours of hard work and practice to prepare for what is set to be the biggest weekend of their season. Each team has been on a journey of ups and downs throughout the past four months, but now it’s time to give it their all for a chance to cut the nets.

“Championship Weekend is one of the highlights of the AAU program,” says Keli Riley, Office Administrator at Spokane Hoops Association, “We get to watch the first through fourth place games of each grade level, crown the winners of our free throw and three-point Hot Shot Competition and congratulate all the players who have participated all five years in our program. It’s a very special weekend!”

On Sunday the 17th, players that competed in our Hot Shot Competition will have an opportunity to win it all during the half time games of their respective grades. Four competitors were chosen from both free throw and three-point challenges to show us their skills during Championship Weekend. The winner receives a trophy and some major bragging rights. Another highlight of the weekend is recognizing players who have been with our program for five years now. This year we’re celebrating over 90 players!

“Championship Weekend is the culmination of our season. Our goal is to make it a special weekend for the teams that made it all the way to the championship round,” explains Giff Marleau, Program Manager.

Championship weekend is more than just winning a trophy. It’s the culmination of months of hard work for Spokane AAU athletes. We recognize all the dedication that each athlete has put into their season and hope that it has provided a safe but competitive environment for all players. Each team should be proud of the growth and accomplishments they have achieved throughout the season.

Thank you to everyone that has made the 30th season of Spokane AAU a success!
