INTERN PROGRAM

Each semester, Spokane Hoopfest Association offers internships with various focuses. Hoopfest interns will learn the playbook behind executing the largest 3on3 basketball tournament on Earth. Below is an annual plan and needs by semester for the intern program, as well as descriptions for each position. If interested, click the link below to submit an application.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates will be energetic, enthusiastic problems solvers, and flexible
  • Strong desire to learn with professional drive
  • Ability to take initiative, employ good judgment, and manage projects from start to finish
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to collaborate with staff members and other interns to meet deadlines and anticipate next steps or needs
  • Be able to work between 12-20 hours per week 
  • Strong knowledge of basketball and/or sports is a plus
  • **Summer Interns must be available to work the entire week of Hoopfest (June 23rd-June 29th) and be in town the coming weeks before the event (all of May-June).
  • Marketing & Social-Media and Projects & Events Internships are unpaid internships. Hours can be used for school and internship credit.

Spokane Hoopfest is looking for a Project & Events Intern to join the team. Projects will include assisting in planning, coordinating and operating all festival elements of Hoopfest the event, as well as all smaller events and will report directly to the Project & Events Manager. Projects will include assisting with adult leagues, various pop-up events and festival area of Hoopfest weekend including vendors/exhibitors, beer garden, contests and hall of fame event. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Hooptown Youth League Coordinator on troubleshooting issues at tournaments and HYL games. 
  • Assist with game coordination & logistics of the Hooptown Youth League. 
  • Contribute to setup, operations and teardown of all pop-up events that can take place during work ours as well as on the weekends
  • Oversee one specific festival area of the event in conjunction with a Hoopfest Operating Committee member
  • Assist Project & Events Manager in preparing necessary passes, documents and mailings for all festival areas
  • Complete administrative duties as needed
  • Provide general customer service
  • Assist with other tasks provided by other Hoopfest teammates if necessary

This is a full-time internship position that will be in the office 9-5pm M-F from April to mid-August. This position will be paid a stipend.

Spokane Hoopfest is looking for an Inventory & Retail Management Intern to join the team. This position will gain hands-on experience working directly with suppliers and printers as well as run the Hoopfest Store over Hoopfest Weekend. 

Qualifications Specific to this Role:

  • Accounting and/or Finance Major
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Adept with computer applications and comfortable learning and problem-solving new software

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain software apps related to inventory and product sales.
  • Work with Marketing & Inventory Manager to count all inventory being distributed and sold. 
  • Create signage for the Hoopfest store (prices, exits, etc.).
  • Help manage Hoopfest Store over Hoopfest Weekend. Contact person and problem solver with any technical issues. 
  • Provide general customer service
  • Assist with other tasks provided by team staff if necessary

Spokane Hoopfest is looking for a Marketing/Social Media Intern to join the team. Projects will include managing the Hoopfest and Hooptown USA social media accounts, creating social media content, assisting with e-newsletters, and helping promote events. **Spring intern will have the potential opportunity to extend internship through Hoopfest weekend (June 29th/30th).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all areas of the marketing department including social media, e-newsletters, blog posts, and website materials
  • Assist in building social media campaigns and preparing promotional materials
  • Create engaging content to build social media follower base
  • Engage with social media audience by responding to direct messages on Instagram and Facebook on a consistent basis
  • Assist Program and Events Manager in promoting the Hooptown Youth League and Tournaments.
  • Assist Sponsorship Manager with writing announcements about sponsors. 
  • Complete administrative duties as needed
  • Provide general customer service
  • Assist with other tasks provided by team staff if necessary
